hello! unfortunately my name is not really rowan. it is actually sam. but rowan trees are said to offer protection against the evil fae, and I think as a person I would like to become more like a tree in general.

I was born and am currently living in singapore. I also studied art (and computer science) at college in northfield minnesota, and I go to the uk a couple times a year to visit my grandparents, and sometimes I feel more at home over there than I do at home among the temperate trees and the spirits of blake and chesterton. I read too many fairy tales as a child and now everything I make bears the mark of their influence. sometimes I forget that I have flesh and responsibilities and am not actually a fictional character. in college I did a lot of printmaking. lately I have grown a sketchbook as my fifth limb and been drawing in it a lot of monsters. I am drawn to things that are slightly creepy but that cannot hurt you. I am influenced by everything I experience but especially the books I read. I guess I could call myself an illustrator. in addition to art I also make a lot of music and poetry which you can check out too if you want.
